Learn About The History Of Cheesecake

History suggests that ancient Greeks offered cheesecakes among their athletes when the original Olympics games were held. The reason behind this Greek tradition is the fact that cheesecake has a great nutritional value for them.

It’s common that a serving of delicious cheesecake has 6 grams protein because of its egg content. As compared to any other desserts like the cream or soft pie which only has 2 grams protein, cheesecake is certainly more nutritious.

But in modern times, people become more aware of their health so they do not want too much sugar in their food including cheesecake. But worry no more, because cheesecakes these days are prepared in various ways. Some don’t put much sugar and flour to suit the healthy stomachs of some consumers.

There is no doubt that cheesecake is one of the best desserts, man has ever discovered. That is why many people crave for this amazing pastry. But since baking cheesecake is quite complex, most cheesecake lovers just buy them.

Actually, buying cheesecakes is a more reasonable way to have a bite of your favorite dessert. You don’t have to sweat mixing and baking and you still get to eat that delicious cheesecake. Plus, shop owners also can have these delivered right at your door steps anytime.

The next time you’ll have a party or a special dinner with your family, just order your cheesecake so you will enjoy your time with your visitors and loved ones.

These days cheesecake has lots of varieties to choose from. You may have New York style cheesecake if you want that classic American taste. New York style cheesecake is a mixture of eggs, creamy cheese, and heavy or whipped cream.

In some instances, lemon and cottage or soft white cheese are also blended to add more flavors. A New York style cheesecake uses no coating or crust. Its external or outer layer is just cooked until light brown while the center remains soft and rich.

Another variation is the Australian and British or English cheesecake. Australians and British people don’t cook or bake their cheesecakes. They just mix creamy cheese, cream, gelatin and sugar. This mixture must be chilled first before being served. Flavors like Irish cream, chocolate and berries are added.

Italian cheesecake, however, is patterned from the Ancient Roman cheesecake recipe. The Italians use honey, bay leaves, ricotta and flour as their main ingredients. But modern times have changed the recipe and replaced sugar with honey and vanilla extract to replace of bay leaves.

In making a French cheesecake recipe, a different kind of cheese like the Neufchatel is usually combined with the ingredients to bring out a unique flavor. This type of cheese is also called “farmer’s cheese” which gives a mushroom-like flavor.

Contemporary varieties of cheesecakes are using various fruits, berries, nuts, pumpkins, spices and chocolates to add more flavors and texture to your cheesecakes.
